    Visa to Azerbaijan – an official document authorizing a foreigner or stateless person to enter or to leave the Republic of Azerbaijan, by crossing its border checkpoints in the defined way, and to stay temporarily in the country for the period specified in the visa.

Types of visa to Azerbaijan

    In general, there are 2 types of visa in Azerbaijan: entry and transit.
    According to the number of entries, entry visas are divided into single and multiple visa, and transit visas – into single and double entry visa.
    
The validity of an entry visa is determined up to 90 days for a single entry visa and up to 2 years for a multiple entry visa.   
    Foreigners and stateless persons can be issued visas if they visit Azerbaijan for the following purposes:
     – business visa (no more than 180 days);
     – science or education visa (
no more than 90 days);
     – work visa (no more than 90 days);
     – medical treatment visa (
no more than 90 days);
     – humanitarian trip visa (
no more than 90 days);
     – personal trip visa (
no more than 90 days);
     – cultural and sport trip visa (
no more than 60 days);
     – tourism visa (
no more than 30 days);
     – transit visa (
valid for 30 days, period of stay in Azerbaijan is no longer than 5 days).
    Persons visiting Azerbaijan for only official purposes are issued diplomatic or service entry visas.

What documents are required for visa application?

    Probably first question and the main reason why you read this article is “How to get visa to Azerbaijan?”.
    To apply for visa to Azerbaijan, foreign citizens and stateless persons must submit the following documents to the Consular Section of the Embassy of Azerbaijan in their country or to the Consular Section of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Azerbaijan:

    1. Application form;
    2. Passport (original & copy);
    3. Invitation from Azerbaijan (the inviting party, being a physical person or legal entity, must fill the relevant sections of the application);
    4. Copy of medical insurance (in case inviting party doesn’t pay for the medical service of foreigner); 
    5. 2 photo (3х4 sm);
    6. document confirming the reason for the invitation (not required for transit, tourist and personal trip visas);
    7. Receipt certifying payment of the state fee.

Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Azerbaijan reserves the right to require additional documents in some cases.

Visa-free entry to Azerbaijan

     Depending on the country of citizenship, there are various priviliges and restrictions for foreign citizens in obtaining a visa to Azerbaijan.
    There are a number of countries whose citizens are entitled to visa-free entry to Azerbaijan, according to completely visa-free regime of entry of Azerbaijan. This list includes the following countries:   
     – Belarus – no longer than 90 days;
     – Georgia – no longer than 90 days;
     – Kazakhstan – no longer than 90 days;
     – Kyrgyzstan – no longer than 90 days;
     – Moldova – no longer than 90 days;
     – Russia – no longer than 90 days;
     – Ukraine – no longer than 90 days;
     – Tajikistan – no longer than 90 days;
     – Türkiye – no longer than 90 days;
     – Uzbekistan – no longer than 90 days;
     – Qatar – no longer than 90 days (in cases of education or employment in the territory of Azerbaijan, citizens of Qatar are obliged to apply for a visa first).

Electronic visa
(e-visa or ASAN Visa)

   Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Azerbaijan has introduced the possibility of obtaining an electronic visa to Azerbaijan, which can be obtained on the official website of ASAN Visa by filling out the required form.
    Registration of an e-visa takes from 3 hours up to 3 days.
    Payment for a visa is accepted through the VISA & MasterCard payment systems. At the moment, citizens of the countries, specified in this link can obtain an e-visa to Azerbaijan.

How to check is your visa ready?

    Application for obtaining standart visa (not e-visa) to Azerbaijan is being reviewed by Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Azerbaijan in 15 days. 
    You can personally contact the numbers, specified in this link, to obtain the information about procedure.
    The results of the application for obtaining an e-visa (ASAN visa) are provided to the e-mail address indicated by the foreign citizen during registration. Therefore, it is very important to observe the correct filling of information when submitting an application.

Visa on arrival to Azerbaijan
